A healthcare facility, specifically a surgery center, faced a critical challenge in maintaining uninterrupted operations.
The center relied on chillers and motors to provide conditioned air to operating rooms, ensuring a stable environment for surgical procedures. Any failure in these critical assets could result in cancelled surgeries, leading to significant financial losses, disruptions to patient care, and potential risks to patient safety. Given the high stakes, the facility needed a reliable predictive maintenance solution to detect early signs of equipment failure and take corrective action before disruptions occurred.
Through our partnership with Zurich, a Zurich risk engineer assisted the surgery center with the installation of MOVUS FitMachines on essential chillers and motors. The FitMachine sensors continuously monitored vibration, temperature, and noise levels, providing real-time insights into asset health through the MachineCloud Dashboard.
Shortly after installation, the FitMachine detected abnormal behavior in a motor supplying conditioned air to an operating room.
The system flagged an anomaly that indicated an impending failure, alerting the facility’s maintenance team to investigate the issue before it escalated. Without this early warning, the facility risked sudden equipment failure, forcing costly emergency responses and surgical rescheduling.
