In food manufacturing, production continuity depends on more than keeping equipment running. It depends on making sure critical assets are operating in the right conditions, at the right time, and within safe process limits.
For ARYZTA, a global food manufacturer, ovens and griddles are critical points within the production line. If these assets are not operating efficiently, the broader process can quickly become bottlenecked. A failure at this point can create significant downtime, lost production, repair costs, and reputational risk.
To improve visibility across these critical production assets, ARYZTA used MOVUS to monitor equipment health continuously and support both maintenance and frontline operations teams with real-time asset insights.
The goal was not simply to detect mechanical failure. It was to give teams earlier warning when asset behaviour moved outside normal operating patterns, so they could respond before equipment, production, or food safety were put at risk.

Abnormal behaviour detected outside standard operation
In the early hours of the morning, MOVUS identified a deviation in one oven’s behaviour. Vibration and temperature levels had increased significantly, triggering an alert for the onsite maintenance team.
Using visual data tools and AI output, the maintenance team was able to interpret the symptoms as metal-on-metal rubbing. Further investigation showed the machine had been left running outside standard operating hours, with no product flowing through the line.
That changed the nature of the issue. What first appeared to be an equipment concern also revealed a missed operational process step during the previous overnight shutdown. The asset was not simply showing signs of stress. It was operating in a condition it should not have been in.
Without early warning, the issue could have continued until the equipment overheated or failed. In a food manufacturing environment, that kind of event can also create wider risks around product quality, food safety, recall exposure, consumer health, and brand reputation.
Turning an alert into operational learning
Because the abnormal behaviour was identified early, onsite teams were able to respond before the issue escalated into equipment breakdown or process disruption.
The value went beyond the immediate alert. Following the event, ARYZTA updated its operations checklists and changed the oven’s Human Machine Interface so the equipment would visibly display a warning when left on. This gave operations teams stronger system support to prevent the same issue from recurring.
For maintenance teams, the event also provided confidence that critical assets could be monitored continuously, including outside normal inspection windows. With the MOVUS dashboard accessible to frontline and offsite maintenance staff, teams could view asset health information remotely and prioritise work based on what needed attention most. MOVUS helped identify a weak point in the operating process and supported a practical change that reduced future risk.
Following the deployment, ARYZTA gained greater visibility across critical production equipment and a clearer way to connect asset behaviour with operational action.
